RISING HILLS GUEST SUITE: BEDROOM & BATHROOM

Part of the back of a well-laid out home, this private guest room with its own exterior entrance needed a touch of artistry to instantly make guests feel special. Part short-term, part long term, the goal was to ensure anyone staying over is comfortable and spoiled with all necessary amenities.

MANY CUSTOM FINISHES MAKE UP THIS SPACE,

which was intended as luxurious, friendly and somewhat whimsical. Hand-painted walls are a nod to the engaging tempo of the 1980s, worthy of warmth and intrinsic color depth, yielding to a cozy environment to lounge.

Finished off with gorgeously scaled artwork, graphic window treatments, plenty of great reading options and extra plush and luxurious bedding, the result is a space you may have trouble getting visitors to leave.

WE SET OUT WITH A PLAYFUL SPIRIT,

to encourage guests spending time there to feel at their best.

Guest bathrooms are often built smaller than the rest of the house, which means that extra emphasis in their design should focus on how guests feel in them.

Fun touches and lots of color ensure that each morning starts off right, and plenty of clean-lined surfaces keep this smaller space feeling rich in its offerings. With a love for light, we took the opportunity of creating a highly reflective surface area to add the feeling of space.

HAND-PAINTED BLUE & WHITE MARINIÈRE STRIPES ON THE WALLS,

add a hand-touched detail that makes everyone feel at home.

A beautiful clay color on the vanity captures a sense of fun while still feeling classic.

By placing floor to ceiling mirror on the vanity wall, guests can easily see where everything is, while feeling like the space they are in is large. Marble countertops reference the distinctive combination of brick pattern and rhombus shaped marble floor-to-ceiling tile in the shower.

We always want to emphasize height, so taking each material to its most extreme point accomplishes exactly this.
