So, what’s ahead?

2021 is a reflection point for all of us…it’s always important when looking ahead to look back and take stock. I know for one — I only really want to focus on what matters. I hope you’ll join me in prioritizing yourself, finding what you love, and taking the leap to really surround yourself with something that suits you.

Below, are my design trend predictions for the year ahead. Think natural colors, expressiveness, a larger link to global cultures as well as bringing the outdoors in.

More of us rediscovered our green thumbs during the pandemic — whether successfully or not. And even if we didn’t, we’ll find a solid sprouting of natural elements in this year’s home décor.

Think lots of indoor plants, found objects from the beach or farm and a looseness woven in, leaving an ever so sexy 1970s undone vibe.

Just like we like it — a not too perfect approach, leaving room for connection.

For those seeking a more heightened representation, color and textural pattern mixing will stay bold and present full force.

We can look forward to luscious layering and tongue in cheek expressiveness, helping us to have fun again.

With the opportunity to highly personalize a space, this is what we at Turnstyle Design find has the richest components in its development.

Global cultures will also find their way into this year’s home design trends. With a collective sentiment more aware of the world as a whole than in a long time, we’ll see more décor infused with exploration and what it means to reference cultures or places we are interested in exploring.

Because the need for clever personal space expansion has become the norm, the outdoors will be top of mind in renovation and redesign. By asking the question: how can we bring the outdoors in, we will see openness of space, the further blurring of delineating footprint lines and lots of glass and transparency in design.

2021 will work hard to help us all bring the sunshine fully in!
