2023 Holiday Gift Guide
Whether to honor a host or hostess with something thoughtful this Thanksgiving, or if you’d prefer to get a head start on your holiday shopping list, here are some of Lieve’s favorites for the season.
It isn’t Pretty, But it’s the Basis of Everything
When you look for something to wear, what do you consider first? Fit, color, style, and design come naturally as top of mind.
5 Things I Prioritize Daily —
Every day starts anew, and sometimes our routines work, and other times we just have to throw our hands up and be okay with an alternate day. Because who has time to get it right every single time?!
Things To Consider When Buying A New Home —
With the Austin housing market booming and showing no signs of slowing down, we’ve been receiving so many questions about the home buying process. We invited our friend Leah Petri, real estate agent of the very well-established Gottesman Residential to weigh in with her expertise as a long standing real estate professional in our Austin community.
Lieve’s Favorite Austin Restaurants —
Who doesn’t love a good meal out?! And even though Covid is still around, here is a round-up of my favorite places — to either order from, or get yourself into in person once the world is in a better place to do so. Fun to have plans ahead!
2021 Design Trends & Luxe Red Awards —
Think natural colors, expressiveness, a larger link to global cultures as well as bringing the outdoors in.
Lieve’s Family Holiday Activities in Austin —
Every year the holidays creep up on us in our seemingly typical whirlwind of rushing around to tend to this that and the other. In most years it seems impossible to also find quiet time to capture the crafting and making of fun traditional holiday activities.
Zoom Boom —
With Zoom and all video conferencing now such a big part of our daily lives, we took inspiration from our friends at Gottesman Residential and decided to give you some fun (and very beautiful) images to share as your own background image.
Deeper Insights Into Our Work —
Who can resist a good before and after view of a space?! Well, we can’t either since it always blows our minds how much a space can change! We’ve been at this for 15 years, so here are a few of our favorites to share with you.
Family Book Club —
As our children grow, we as parents look for any and every excuse to spend more time with them. Realizing that our days with them become fleeting, and feeling the need to ready them for the world, particular at a time in when lots of poignant and informative experiences are occurring in the world, this becomes all the more present.
Project Feature: Luxurious Lakeside Master Bath & Closet —
As is often the case in the homes that I see, this bathroom was dark, run down and used more out of necessity than anything else. In much need of attention, I redesigned this space to be open and flooded with natural light. Highly reflective surfaces now allow the eye to bounce around the room.
Getting The Most Out Of A Virtual Design Consultation: Q & A with Lieve —
Q: Why should I invest in my space? Interior design isn’t something I am used to spending money on…
A: What you surround yourself with at home is in direct correlation to how you feel, particularly in an everyday way. Often times we buy something quickly to fill a need, only to find out it doesn’t fit, or isn’t comfortable or isn’t the best in quality.
3 Motivational Activities To Fill Your Day —
t’s strange how we went from having all the structure in the world to now having to set our own timelines. This takes focus, motivation and effort and is important, because productivity is a key driver to our everyday. Productivity is so helpful because it gives us direction, purpose, and cause to get to our goals.
Lieve Saether: Designer / Artist
In my art as in my design, my broad understanding of cultural transcendence stems from a childhood of existing between two continents. Born in the U.S. but raised between Europe and the States with my single mother, I was quick to adapt to new surroundings and experiences out of necessity.
Styling Shelves: The Art Of Curation —
We all have things in our homes which we’ve collected along the way. As a matter of fact —I can guess you almost feel overwhelmed by all of the little pieces that have come with years of great experiences, lots of mishaps and mis-chosen items, and various compilations of things from friends and family members.
Project Feature: Colorful Master Bedroom —
In terms of remodels, master bedrooms are most often left for last. Given the relaxing nature of this type of space, we at Turnstyle wish to see more clients prioritize it – it does after all offer a place to retreat, rejuvenate, and start the day from.
Lieve’s 2019 Holiday Guide —
What I love most about the Christmas break is the opportunity to really take my time to just “be” with friends and family. Girl’s festive lunches and team holiday parties, traditions with our children of baking cookies, trimming the tree and re-discovering old memories of celebrations past. How sweet is it to revisit those baby feet ornaments of long ago toddler days?!
How To Curate An Art Collection For Your Home —
If there’s one thing that has been important to me throughout my career as an interior designer, it’s incorporating art into every project. Art has the power to evoke such strong emotion and curating an art collection of your own is a process that can be both enjoyable and rewarding—but also somewhat daunting.
Virtual Tour: Award Winning Lakeside Home —
This year, one of our favorite projects was awarded the 2019 Texas Star Award for Best Kitchen and Best Master Bathroom. Beautifully positioned on Lake Austin, this Santa Barbara-style home is a thoughtful new construction build, which Turnstyle Design was a part of from its early beginnings in collaboration with builders Signature Homes.
Project Feature: Austin Hillside Home With French Architectural Influence
This hillside home with French architectural influence is a project we have enjoyed designing over several continuous phases. Meant for entertaining with ease and enjoying stunning city views, we set out to pull people through, encouraging a fluid experience of the spaces.
