A Modern Holiday —

Lucky us! Our Turnstyle Design team had the perfect start to the holiday season this year: Christmas music, festive decorating and ultimately a day spent with a favorite client. December brought to fruition a modern Christmas scheme that was the result of very specific planning and designing. We get this home ready for the holidays each year, so our goal each time is to supplement its clean-lined beauty in a new way.

As you can see, this home is quite spectacular. Simple, pure and warm. To highlight its dominant architectural features, our holiday design remained particularly minimal and modern for 2015. The idea of classic Christmas elements were all considered in our heads, but given that we love to turn things upside down at times, each part of this design took those traditional ideas and pared them down in essence. Instead of a traditional living tree, we used a sculptural Lucite tree. Instead of ornaments on the tree, we designed this large-scale bauble sculpture to sit inside the tree. Ombré color gradation captures the season’s palette, all the while, not interfering with its surroundings. Bright red enamel planters were filled with striking magnolia leaves – a nod to both the south and simplicity in abundance. Pure geometric wire wreaths with strikes of color all combine together to bring a somewhat avant-garde approach to the holidays.

Decorating for the holidays is an annual favorite part of what we turnstylists offer our clients, and we always enjoy the challenge of creating something more unusual such as this restrained and modern décor sense. We hope it in turn inspires you as well.
