How To Finish Off A Rounded Tile —

For one of our kitchen projects we are finishing up, we fell hard in love with this abalone shell tile. Right?! I mean, of course, we had to have it. But sometimes it hurts to be pretty and said tile was no easy exception.

At times there is a barrier that comes with extra thin round tiles: how do you tie up the end edge, given your depth differences, without leaving the space looking unfinished? We tackled this obstacle by purposefully emphasizing this difference. Where one has thin, go thick! This beautiful marble “cigaro” tile has a significant profile comparatively, but plays well and highlights its differences next to the penny piece. We feel quite pretty, no?

So, whenever you’re installing a tile that is of an unusual shape, keep an option like this in mind. It doesn’t always have to go, or be part of the same set. Sometimes the best solution is where you least expect to find it. And really, marble…always upscale and classical.
