Lieve’s 2019 Holiday Guide —
What I love most about the Christmas break is the opportunity to really take my time to just “be” with friends and family. Girl’s festive lunches and team holiday parties, traditions with our children of baking cookies, trimming the tree and re-discovering old memories of celebrations past. How sweet is it to revisit those baby feet ornaments of long ago toddler days?!
And because it’s a time to pause and relate to one another, gift giving should be thoughtful and clever and keep us connected through taking the time to find something right. To fit that person you know so well, or to get to know someone you’ve just met better. So take a cue from our list below – whether activities or gift ideas, we hope these tips will help you emphasize some thorough, well-spent time for yourself.

GIFTS THEY WILL LOVE
FOR HER
Exquisitely packaged and beautiful in color and scent, this array of Bulgari eau de parfum will please any discerning nose.
Or, break up the set and use individually as stocking stuffers for all the ladies in your life
FOR HIM
Forever a favorite of mine (hence the many posts I have done on my love for her), Yayoi Kusama’s skateboard will tug at the inner child cool of his younger years.
A great gift for him, this art piece is not only exceptional in aesthetic, but also fun in its nostalgia.
FOR THE LITTLE ONES
Sweet and simple, anything Georg Jensen returns to my list.
This money bank is the perfect lasting gift for any little one, and it’s so beautiful their parents won’t mind having it on permanent display.
FOR MOM
Head to Mercury Design on 2nd street for a delicate piece from one of my all-time favorite Artists Molly M.
Previously an architect, she does wonders with cut paper.
FOR DAD
For dad – Anything Yeti is cool, but this river green makes it a retro and forward thinking option for dad.
With multiple uses, this is sure to be a hit for anyone in the house, making dad the happiest multitasker.
FOR THE TECHIE
For a friend who appreciates something clever and cool, this Heng Balance Lamp serves as the perfect objet d’art, while capturing the flexibility of two types of light volume.
As a standalone piece, it adds to any space.
START A NEW TRADITION
MAKE A WREATH
Each year, my daughter and I make a holiday wreath for our front door. This allows me to express my creativity and, more importantly for her to explore and grow hers. We enjoy the time thinking it up just as much as we do producing it, and it’s always a talking point for guests. Nicely spent time I’d say – wouldn’t you?
A FAMILY OUTING
Attending a performance of The Nutcracker is a surefire way to get your family into the holiday spirit, and may even become a much anticipated yearly tradition. Austin Ballet’s 57th annual production is running now through December 23rd at The Long Center.
DIY WRAPPING PAPER
Wrapping gifts with your kids can be a fun way to bring them into the spirit of giving while fostering creativity. Have them draw a special picture or a portrait of the recipient on some parchment paper for a wrapper that’s sure to be as cherished as the gift inside.
HOLIDAY STYLE
The holidays often bring all manner of social gatherings and occasions, and with them the opportunity to pull out some of those special pieces you rarely find the occasion to wear. If you’re in need of a little festive fashion inspiration, below are some pieces I’ve been coveting lately.
