HIRING A PRO VS. D.I.Y.
It can be empowering tackling the needs of the household on your own, and we do encourage it. There are plenty of D.I.Y. projects that you can do. With all the resources, like YouTube and HGTV, at your fingertips, it’s easy to educate yourself and feel more confident in what you decide to take on. But one thing is for sure, there are definitely tasks that only a professional should handle.
DIY: PAINTING
Painting is a task that you can tackle if you have the will (and the patience) to do so.
PRO: ELECTRICAL
Electrical is not something an amateur should try to mess with. I’m sure this isn’t shocking (pun intended) to most of you, but taking on electrical jobs can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing.
DIY: TILE WORK
Tile work can be done on your own. You could lay down a tile floor or put up a backsplash with the right tools and materials.
PRO: REUPHOLSTERING
Reupholstering is not something anyone with a sewing machine can take on. It’s a heavy duty undertaking and is best left up to the professionals.
DIY: LANDSCAPING
Can’t forget about the home’s exterior! Landscaping is a great way to get in touch with nature and exercise your green thumb. Just remember to stay hydrated while you work.
PRO: PLUMBING
Plumbing is a job for the professionals. Sure, some people can unclog a toilet or tighten a leaky sink on their own. But if you’re trying to relocate your shower or change out your tub, we recommend hiring a plumber.
