RIVER GARDEN
BATHROOM
A primary bathroom is often a refuge and a sanctuary — a place to recenter oneself. Since our sense of self (at times) often takes a back seat, I find most people leave this very important space until the end when it comes to giving it proper attention. Such was the case here too.
So, by the time I was able to get my hands on it, my goal was to make it as much of a headlining space as possible — in other words, to make it more of a priority for the homeowner giving them permission to put themselves first, and to enjoy. In its original version, this bathroom was gray, beige, drab, and overly ornate. Views to the city were essentially blocked, and nothing in it felt inspiring to the soul.
My design focus began with the architecture.
Highlighting each graceful curve, this barrel ceiling now has the ultimate in classic bookend, with gorgeous wallpaper and beautiful floor-to-ceiling marble tiles in every space. By mixing and matching patterns, we are now able to see the space and enjoy it from a new point of view. The softness and subtle nature of my materials leaves you wanting to spend more time here, and to touch and interact with everything as you go through your day.
It’s a sultry space,
that aligns with a sense of well-being, that calmly takes you in to take care of you.
Custom built-ins, and hand-painted murals, play nicely with incredible hardware and stunning sculptural lighting. Very specific fine art finds its place for daydreaming in admiration while anyone spending time in the bath, and a well-fitted, broad-spanning walk-in closet, gets anyone ready for a night out. A private water closet now has personality, and no longer feels like an afterthought.
